Call for Proposals – Closed

The second Honors Education at Research Universities (HERU) conference will be hosted by Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR on May 18-19, 2015. The program will focus on future directions: How will honors education evolve and continue to provide value over the next decade?

The Call for Proposals submission deadline was October 15th. We will notify authors of accepted proposals by November 30, 2014.

Submitted proposals were for presentations (20-30 minutes), panels (60 minutes), or other session formats (60 minutes), on best practices and innovations in areas such as:

  • Admissions and Recruitment
  • Advising and Retention
  • Diversity and Access
  • Curriculum Development and Funding Models
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development
  • Fund Development and Alumni Engagement
  • Learning Outcomes and Assessment
  • First-Year Experiences
  • Residential Communities
  • Experiential Learning, Service Learning, and Global Experiences
  • Undergraduate Research and the Thesis Model

Format Instructions (presentation, panel or other format):

Within the online proposal webform, please be prepared to submit the following information:

  • Contact Information (this will likely be the same as the main author, but may differ in some situations)
  • Main Author Name
  • Affiliation
  • Role (faculty, advisor, assistant/associate dean, dean, other)
  • Additional Author(s)
  • Telephone
  • Format (presentation or panel)
  • Audio Visual Requirements
  • Abstract File Upload (attach Word Doc. with one paragraph per submission)

Timeline:

  • Submission Deadline: Oct 15, 2014
  • Notification of Decision: November 30, 2014
